This week marks two years of Queer Film LA! We've been thrilled to bring you over a thousand Queer film events over the last two years, and look forward to many more. Thank you for supporting us, and all the great Queer film programming in LA.

Next weekend hosts two must-see Queer films -- pioneering 1983 Black Queer science fiction Born in Flames screens at the Hammer Museum on Sunday with director Lizzie Borden and star Adele Bertei. And the night before, directors Jeffrey Friedman and Rob Epstein join for a very special screening of Oscar-winning doc Common Threads: Stories from the Quilt at the Academy Museum. Come out for Outfest NEXT this weekend, then come back to LOOK Glendale on Monday for a special presentation of Rashaad Newsome's Assembly, co-presented by Outfest and the Black Cat Cinema Series.

Outfest returns to programming with the new OutfestNEXT series this week, bringing four days of great Queer films to LA's LGBT Center and LOOK cinemas in Glendale from November 6-9.

Outfest returns, and so does their longstanding collaboration with the UCLA Film and TV Archive, the Legacy Project Screening Series. Before Anthony Mackie was Captain America, he starred in the 2004 feature debut from Rodney Evans. Don't miss this free screening, and then check out the newest from Outfest next weekend.

It's a busy week as AFI Fest takes over LA, bringing a whole crop of new Queer films (and some non-Queer ones too). Don't forget to use code QueerfilmAFI2025 for a discount on your tickets!

We're thrilled to team up with Sapphic LA, LA's Lesbian & Queer City Guide, for a joint meetup at the LA Premiere of 2025 Teddy-award winner Lesbian Space Princess at Animation is Film Festival. Meet up at 7:30PM in the lobby bar of the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres on the 3rd floor of Ovation Hollywood. The movie theater validates parking— $3 for 4 hours.

Don't get distracted by spooky season, festival season, or awards season yet -- the most special Queer film event this week is a collaboration between Black Cat Cinema Series and Sunny Bunny Ukrainian LGBTQ Film Festival to present a very special series of recent short films made by Queer Ukrainian filmmakers.
