Wicked Queer at Malden Public Library: Gen Silent Screening + Panel on LGBTQ+ Aging
Join us on June 4 at 6PM the Malden Public Library for a screening of the powerful documentary Gen Silent, followed by a community panel exploring the challenges and resilience of LGBTQ+ elders.
Directed by Stu Maddux, Gen Silent reveals the lives of older LGBTQ+ adults who must choose whether to remain out and face potential discrimination or go back into the closet to survive in long-term care. This profoundly moving film spotlights the quiet crisis facing queer seniors and calls for change in how we care for our aging communities.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with advocates and experts on aging, queerness, and community care.

There Are Things to Do (Mike Syers & Fermin Roja)
There Are Things to Do Screening at the Massachusetts State House
On June 9th, at 1PM the Massachusetts State House has programmed There Are Things to Do from directors Mike Syers & Fermin Roja. Fermin Roja will be in attendance.
Outspoken immigrant, lesbian, and woman of color, Urvashi Vaid, was a leader who helped shape the modern-day gay rights movement. She was an expert in gender and sexuality law and was the first woman of color to lead a national gay-and-lesbian organization. This film presents Vaid’s life in Provincetown, including her 34-year relationship with her partner Kate Clinton, before Vaid’s death in 2022.
If you cannot attend this event, the short will still be streaming from GBH on June 1st.

Wicked Queer invites you to experience "Fierce Determination" – the International Queer Women of Color Film Festival celebrating 25 years of QWOCMAP's revolutionary work this June 13-15.
In an era of intensifying censorship and legislative attacks on LBTQIA+ BIPOC communities, these 49 films represent vital cultural documentation and resistance. From Black Southern liberation stories with roots to the Underground Railroad to the protection of Mauna Kea by Native Hawaiian culture bearers, QWOCFF2025 highlights how our communities persist through collective care and artistic expression.
As a community partner, we appreciate QWOCMAP's long-standing commitment to disability justice, which includes comprehensive accessibility features such as open captions, audio descriptions, ASL interpretation, and alternative approaches to safety.
