Winner of a Golden Gate Award at the San Francisco Film Festival, "Vintage: Families of Value" is a thoughtful and sometimes painful examination of three black families through the eyes of gay and lesbian siblings including Harris and his brother Lyle Ashton Harris. The director confronts the issue by asking his mother to talk about her two sons being gay. This documentary weaves together stories from all three families with impressionistic scenes that express what some are unwilling to say.

Fresh off the bus in Manhattan, Brian has a crush on his new roommate Corrine, a pretty young artist, but there are problems. For starters, she's a lesbian. What's more, she plans to have a baby with her lover Suzanne. Sheltered Brian has a hard enough time accepting lesbian lovers, but lesbian parents? When the women enlist the help of a gay friend and a turkey baster, strait-laced Brian takes his shot at becoming part of the family. One more little catch: Brian is squatting in their spacious West Village loft, which he found empty, and he still hasn't found just the right way to tell his roommates, Corrine and Suzanne, that they don't actually have a lease.

A young girl, the daughter of a lesbian couple, lies peacefully abed listening to one of her mothers reading her a bedtime story. The off-beat tale she hears is set in medieval times and chronicles the exploits of poor Lady Eleanor, an independent, free-spirited young aristocrat who would much rather spend her time riding and being outdoors than staying cloistered inside tending to needlework. Still she is a dutiful daughter and reluctantly abides by her late father's wish that she marry Lord William. William knows that he is not her dream lover, but he is patient and eventually she gets pregnant. Eleanor is terrified, for her mother lost her life and the life of her baby giving birth. Not wanting to suffer the same fate, she sneakily tries to engage the local midwife to come and abort the fetus. Unfortunately, the midwife has been accused of sorcery by the local priests and has been sentenced to die. Fortunately, young Gwenyth, a new midwife shows up.
